It's a good day if you're a fan of The National, and a good week if you're an Irish fan of the band.

Matt Berninger and co. have unexpectedly released their second album of 2023 today.

It's called 'Laugh Track' and was first mentioned by the band when they played the Homecoming Festival in Cincinnati on Friday night.

Then 12-track album is viewed by the band as a companion to 'First Two Pages of Frankenstein', which was released in April - and many of the songs were started during the same session as that album.

Described as "the band's most freewheeling, all-hands-on-deck album in years", it features guest appearances from Phoebe Bridgers and Roseanne Cash, as well as Bon Iver on 'Weird Goodbyes', which was originally released last year.

The National, meanwhile, play Dublin's 3Arena this Thursday, September 21st - so you can expect to hear some new songs in the mix.
