The National will play Live at the Marquee in Cork on June 28th next as part of the city's month-long concert series, it was reveled today.

Matt Berninger and his band will join previously announced acts such as Elton John, Sting and The Boomtown Rats in the tent near Cork's docklands across the duration of the concert series.

This will be The National's first appearance on an Irish stage since Oxegen 2011 when they were scheduled at the same time as Beyonce and played to a fraction of their usual audience.

The band's guitar player Aaron Dessner, who produced Local Natives' last album, was in Dingle at the start of December for his curated night at Other Voices.
