The final Bulmers Live at Leopardstown of the summer takes place this Thursday night featuring one of the most iconic UK acts of the last 25 years, The Happy Mondays.

Pioneers of the 'Madchester' scene in the early 90s, The Happy Mondays along with fellow Manc legends The Stone Roses, dragged the UK indie scene into a new era of revitalised sound and tie-dyed imagery. Signed to the seminal Factory record label and with global hits like 'Step On' and 'Hallelujiah', The Happy Mondays also contained within their ranks larger-than-life characters such as front man Shaun Ryder and Bez, inventing a fusion of indie, 60s psychedelia and acid house that saw their flame burn bright and cement their place in the annals of UK music history. Subsequent spin-offs like Black Grape kept the band busy as they went their separate ways, reforming on occasion to remind fans how influential their sound was and still remains today.

Celebrating its fifth birthday, Bulmers Live at Leopardstown has brought some amazing acts to the racecourse over what has been a superb Irish summer (Ash, Bressie, Hot House Flowers) and The Happy Mondays bring it all to a close tonight.

"We are really looking forward to our final Bulmers Live at Leopardstown gig this summer 2013," said Ciaran Conroy, Commercial Manager at Leopardstown Racecourse. "The Happy Mondays are one of the great bands of a generation are eagerly anticipated by us all"

Gates open at 4.00pm and racing begins at 5.15pm. The last race takes place at 8.30pm followed by the live concert in the Enclosure. Tickets are just €15 for racing and live concert.
