Grandaddy - 'A.M. 180'
Their first appearance on an Irish stage in close to seven years didn't disappoint. The brilliant 'A.M. 180' was undoubtedly one of the high points of their set.
Villagers - 'The Waves'
Another road test for the new Villagers material, following excellent reports from the live set at the Body & Soul festival during the summer. Interest for the second album from Conor O'Brien and his cohorts has surged after their excellent set in the Electric Arena on Saturday night.
Lianne La Havas - 'Age'
Lianne La Havas has been one of 2012's most interesting new artists, as evidenced by the large crowd who were in attendance to see her in the Electric Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Kiwanuka - 'Tell Me A Tale'
Kiwanuka's Home Again is one of our favourite albums of 2012 so far here at entertainment.ie, so seeing him on the Main Stage on Sunday was quite the treat. It was excellent set from the soulful Londoner on the early evening sunshine.
Grimes - 'Genesis'
Unfortunately for her, Grimes had her equipment stolen in Manchester the night before her Electric Picnic set meaning that she not only had to get her hands on new gear but re-programme it all - not that anyone noticed, mind you.
Roots Manuva - 'Witness'
Rodney 'Roots Manuva' Smith is, in our humble opinion, one of the finest vocalists in hip-hop, right up there with Jurassic 5's Chali2na. He was long on our 'bucket list' so we're delighted Electric Picnic provided us with the opportunity to cross him off the list.
Le Galaxie - 'Midnight Midnight'
For sheer exuberance on stage no one came close to Le Galaxie over the whole weekend. Their set began at 2am and one hour later everyone inside the Little Big Tent was a mess of glee and exhaustion. Lethal.
The Strypes - 'You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover'
By now you've no doubt heard the chatter from Stradbally singing the praises of the youngsters from Cavan. They played four sets over the course of the weekend - we caught two of them - and they were unbridled brilliance.
Elbow - 'The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver'
Guy Garvey was in cracking form when he took to the main stage on Sunday evening, seeming genuinely delighted to be there. This song has long been one of our favourites of theirs, a song that showcases the Manchester man's stunning vocal skills.
Sigur Ros - 'Festival'
No one does rousing crescendos quite like Sigur Ros and 'Festival' is one of the finest examples of this. Seeing this song played live on Friday evening was an Electric Picnic 'moment' for us.
