A new addition to the Irish festival calendar is the Valentia Isle Festival (14th - 16th September) in Kerry, a boutique festival set on the stunning Valentia Island off the coast of Southwest Kerry which will shine a spotlight on some of the country's finest music, comedy, local crafts and art installations, artisan food, matchmaking holistic therapy and even activities for kids.

Some great bands will be on hand over the three days, including Jerry Fish, Donal Dineen, Rubberbandits, The Frank & Walters, This Club, Tieranniesaur, Fred, Delorentos, The Young Folk, Toby Kaar, DJ Kormac and Ham Sandwich.

For those travelling to the festival

By Plane: Coming on a flight of fancy? Fly in to Farranfore and arrange private taxi or car hire to Valentia.
By Train: There are regular train services from all major towns and cities in Ireland to Killarney.
Friends of the Festival, Mid-Kerry Cabs will take bookings for places in shared 8 seater taxi's for festival goers arriving by train. We recommend early booking with Margaret on 087 258 2040 or to [email protected]
By Bus: The Bus Eireann Killarney-Waterville route to Caherciveen departs Killarney at 3pm and costs just €14.50 (€23 return). Shuttle buses will operate from Caherciveen to the festival site.
By Ferry: Ferry crossing takes 5-7 mins and the car ferry at Renard Point will be operating all weekend, last crossing to Knightstown is at 9.30pm on Fri 14th, Sat 15th and Sun 16th.
Prices are €3.00 return for a pedestrian and €9.00 return for a car/ camper van (all sizes fit on ferry)

Getting Around the Island
The festival will operate a shuttle bus service from the campsite, local Caherciveen Town and Portmagee Village to the festival site in Knightstown Village. Roads and parking in Knightstown will be operating on a restricted access basis. Bikes can be hired from both Caherciveen and Knightstown; a great way to get around the area and soak up some of the local sights and scenery.
