Taylor Swift is currently on the South American leg of her Eras tour, but not everything is going according to plan.

Tragedy struck over the weekend when a fan attending the show at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio De Janeiro died before it began.

23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides reportedly fainted amid high temperatures before Swift took the stage, with many concertgoers blaming those running the venue for banning fans from bringing in bottles of water. Vents around the stadium which would allow air to circulate were also allegedly closed to prevent people outside the venue from seeing, and the temperature amid the heatwave sweeping Brazil at a scary 60 degrees celcius.

The young fan was later taken to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest, where she sadly died.

Swift responded by posting a statement to her Instagram stories, which read:

"I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.

"I’m not going to be able to speak about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it. I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil."

After Friday's tragedy, the decision was then made to postpone the following night's concert amid high temperatures.
