The Oxford band who've been "pumping on your stereo" since they released their debut album, 'I Should Coco', back in 1995 have announced their decision to split.

The Coombes brothers and co. said in a statement that they've had a "17 year itch" and added, "Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. We still love each other but, cliche notwithstanding, musical differences have led to us moving on and of course we all wish each other well in the future".

Supergrass cracked the mainstream with the hit since 'Alright' in 1995, and had three hit albums before taking a short break in 1999. After that they released a further three albums, including their latest, 2008's 'Diamond Hoo Ha'.

The plan to play four farewell shows, finishing their 17 year career in Paris on June 11th. No news as to what will happen to their forthcoming seventh album 'Release The Drones', which had been slated for a 2011 release.
