Spotify Wrapped 2021 is finally here

As is now tradition, posting your personalised Spotify Wrapped becomes the norm around this time of year. So, if you're not into seeing your mate from school posting their favourite pop-punk artists of 2021, then maybe it's best to stay off the internet today.

Along with the personalised element of it, Spotify Wrapped has also released global and UK statistics on their top artists, songs, albums and podcasts of 2021.

One of the biggest stats to come out of this year is that Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is the world's most streamed artist with over 9.1 billion streams globally.

Spotify's statement on this year's Wrapped said, "If 2020 was the year that flipped the world on its head, 2021 was the year that we got used to seeing things upside down. With 'normal' thrown out the window, we embraced the unknown and championed all of the things that make each of us unique."

Spotify’s 2021 Wrapped is a celebration of this — the millions of weird and wonderful ways to listen and live in a world that continues to keep us on our toes."

New additions

There are some new additions this year for Wrapped. Social sharing is now available on TikTok, as well as all the usual spots.

Several new categories are available, including '2021: The Movie', 'Your Audio Aura', 'Playing Cards' and '2021 Wrapped: Blend'.

Exclusive videos are also available from more than 170 artists and creators thanking fans for having them in their Wrapped. These thank you videos will appear if fans have a song by one of the participating artists in their "Your Top Songs 2021" or "Your Artists Revealed" playlists.

Additionally, Spotify Clips for Podcasts are available. Fans will be able to view special thank you messages from some of their favourite podcast hosts by visiting a participating show’s page on Spotify.
