Sony Music has become one of the first record labels to join Vevo, the music video website set up by the people at Universal and YouTube.

With Sony's participation, Vevo should be able to provide videos for major Sony artists, such as Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce and Kings of Leon. Warner and EMI are also in talks with Vevo and will almost certainly provide content to the site when it launches later this year.

As well as being a site in its own right, Vevo will also have a channel on YouTube, and, according to Yahoo, may even offer downloads, gig tickets and merchandise.
