The show is the first announcement to be part of Wider Than Pictures, a new series of unique and exciting events held at the National Museum.

Simply Red have over a billion hits on YouTube, have sold over 60 million albums worldwide, 5 going to number one in the UK. Their 1991 classic ‘Stars’ was the best-selling album for two years running in Britain and Europe. They have had two US Billboard chart toppers with classic singles ‘Holding Back The Years’ and ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’.

Mick Hucknall has been the songwriter and bandleader since the beginning in 1985, aided since 1986 by long-serving saxophonist Ian Kirkham. The current line-up of Simply Red has remained consistent since 2003.

Hucknall said of the new show announcement, "I want them to enjoy playing, for crowds to get up and move around, and everybody to put their heart into it. It’s all about capturing the groove. I've spent most of my life going out and singing for people, and it has felt strange not to have that for such a long time.

"It's wonderfully inspiriting that people can go and see bands again now, and I can’t wait to get back on stage."

Tickets for Simply Red at the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks go on sale on Friday 11 February at 10am. They can be purchased from www.ticketmaster.ie or www.singularartists.ie. Tickets start from €75 including booking fee.
