98FM's campaign to find Ireland's greatest band has seen five up and coming Irish bands make it to the final round. The station received a huge number of entries from bands all over the country to showcase their talent and now the winning band will be announced on the station's Totally Irish show next Sunday evening (22nd April).

98FM's Totally Irish show was looking for a band that combines creativity and musical capability with a hint of originality. The five finalists go to a public vote this week and the winner will be announced next Sunday. The winning band will receive two days recording time in Windmill Lane Studios, the opportunity to support some of the top names in Irish music in the Workman’s Club on Thursday 26th of April, their song playlisted along with an interview on 98FM.

Presenter John Barker of Totally Irish said “we're really excited with our shortlist of bands and can't wait to see who the public choose as the winning band. The standard of Irish music in 2012 is, according to many critics, at its highest ever. A music scene to be proud of has quickly emerged over the last few years with each year producing more and more great new acts. We here on Totally Irish and 98FM hope to have potentially discovered one of Ireland's greatest bands."

Tune into Totally Irish next Sunday between 8 – 10pm when 98FM’s Brand New Act of 2012 will be revealed.
