2023 was a particularly sad one for the Irish music scene, as we lost two of our most iconic artists in Sinead O'Connor and Shane MacGowan.

Both artists' respective legacies have stretched far and wide - so much so, that a star-studded tribute to them has been announced at New York's Carnegie Hall in March.

Billed as a 'St. Patrick's tribute', it'll take place a few days after St. Patrick's Day on March 20th and will see the likes of Cat Power, David Gray, The Mountain Goats, Glen Hansard, The Dropkick Murphys, Amanda Palmer, Bettye Lavette, Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz, Julia Cumming, Kat Edmonson, and the Resistance Revival Chorus. More acts will be announced.

As for who will be playing which songs? Glen Hansard has already claimed 'Fairytale of New York' as his own after performing it at the Pogues man's funeral - but it will certainly be interesting to see what the American acts like Cat Power will bring to either his or O'Connor's catalogue.

All tributes from the gig will go to non-profit organisation PEN America.

Tickets, if you fancy a trip Stateside in March, are on sale now.
