The former guitarist of rock band Scorpions is the latest name to be added to the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival programme.

Uli Jon Roth, one-time guitarist with the German band best known for their hits 'Rock You Like a Hurricane' and 'Wind of Change' *whistles refrain* will play the Ballyshannon festival on May 29th.

Roth left Scorpions in 1978 but has proven an influential figure in the guitar world ever since. His last Irish gig was in 1998, so he's well overdue a visit to our shores.

"When I was contacted and asked to play, I didn’t have to think about an answer - it was a straight yes," he said. "I can’t wait to play Rory’s festival with my full band, it’s going to be an honour in such a special year."

The Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival takes place in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal from May 28th - 31st. Already on the line-up are Band of Friends, Wilko Johnson & His Band, Bernie Marsden Band, Pat McManus Band, Johnny Gallagher & Boxtie, Sinnerboy, Laurence Jones Band, Dave McHugh Band and many more.
