Scarlett Johansson has teamed up with gruff American singer songwriter Pete Yorn to record an album chronicling a tempestuous affair and entitled "Break Up."

According to USA Today, Yorn was inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's 1960's recordings with Brigitte Bardot, and roped in Johansson as his modern beautiful blonde movie star singing partner. Inspired by a dream, Yorn wrote eight new tracks for the album, which he and Scarlett recorded with producer Sunny Levine, as well as a cover of Big Star's "I Am The Cosmos".

The pair actually recorded the album back in 2006, long before "Anywhere I Lay My Head," Scarlett's album consisting largely of Tom Waits covers.

"Break Up" will get it's U.S. release on September 8th, while its lead single "Relator" can be heard streaming at thebreakupalbum.com.
