Dublin-based band Royseven have announced their split via a Facebook post this afternoon. The band, led by singer Paul Walsh, released two albums and numerous charted singles since they formed in 2003.

The band posted the following on Facebook shortly after 1pm today:

"Dear All,

With heavy hearts we’ve decided to bring down the curtain on our Royseven adventure. Rather than disappointment, we feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and satisfaction for the last eleven years of creativity, performance and friendship. To those in Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain who worked with us, supported or encouraged us, we’d like to thank you for helping to create experiences that were once mere childhood dreams. We each intend to continue writing and performing but this musical chapter has come to an end. We’ll be forever grateful for the wonderful memories you’ve gifted us. Thank you so very much, one and all.

Royseven – Paul, Eamonn, Dazzy, Lego, Sam, Bernard.

Royseven released their debut album The Art of Insincerity in 2006. The album placed at #17 in the charts and featured one of the band's most enduring singles 'Older'. It was 2011 before they released their follow-up You Say, We Say along with chart smash 'We Should Be Lovers' which was the most played song on Irish radio that year ahead of Westlife, The Script and Snow Patrol. The six-piece was also very popular on mainland Europe, with a particularly large following in Germany.

All of us at entertainment.ie wish Paul and the rest of the lads the best in whatever they get up to next.
