There are some bands and artists who have cultivated a quintessential rock 'n' roll attitude and made it work over the decades: The Sex Pistols, Liam Gallagher, Lemmy from Motorhead.

However, there are others who try to pull the 'rock star' card and fail miserably - which is what happened to Royal Blood at the weekend.

The Brighton rock duo were playing BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend mini-festival in Dundee over the weekend, and footage posted online demonstrates how unhappy they were with the audience and their reaction to their music.

Frontman Mike Kerr is seen directing sneering remarks towards the crowd, saying sarcastically 'I guess I should introduce ourselves seeing as no one actually knows who we are... we're called Royal Blood and this is, er, 'rock music'. Who likes rock music? Nine people, brilliant."

At another point, he says "We're having to clap ourselves, because that was so pathetic." He then gestures to the cameraman, asking him to clap, and tells the crowd: "Even he's clapping. What does that say about you?"

Kerr later leaves the stage at the end of their set with both middle fingers raised aloft at the crowd, while drummer Ben Thatcher sarcastically encourages the audience to smile.

Unfortunately for the band, their 'rock star' moment has backfired and instead they're facing a backlash on social media - and have even trended on Twitter - with fans accusing them of being disrespectful and entitled.
