So much for those scurrilous Mariah Carey rumours, eh? Some 50 years after they formed The Rolling Stones have been announced as Glastonbury headliners and joining Mick, Keith and co. at the top of the bill will be Mumford & Sons and Arctic Monkeys.

The Stones will headline the Pyramid Stage on Saturday June 29th, as rumours had suggested, but apparently drummer Charlie Watts took some convincing. He told the BBC last month: "I didn't want to do it, but the other three do. So whether or not we get there I don't know."

Joining the Rolling Stones on the Pyramid Stage across the duration of the already sold out festival will be Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Elvis Costello, Vampire Weekend and more.

The Irish contingent consists of Two Door Cinema Club, The Strypes, Villagers, Sinead O'Connor and Glen Hansard.

Many more names are expected to be annouinced between now and the start of the festival, which will take place over the weekend of 28th, 29th and 30th June.
