As if 2020 couldn't get any more strange, rumours of the demise of one of rap's most famous names began circulating on social media last night.
If you were scrolling through Twitter and saw that #RIPEminem was trending, you may have assumed the worst.
However, the man aka Marshall Bruce Mathers III is alive and well, and it seems that the matter was merely an errant tweet that escalated and got out of hand very quickly.
A tweet by Twitter user 'levicumsock' - which has since been deleted - simply said 'I have killed Eminem' and things spiralled from there, with the hashtag #RIPEminem quickly gaining traction.
Eminem himself has not commented, but if nothing else, it was an exercise in how quickly false information can spread across social media....
Is Eminem really dead? Or is Twitter just being Twitter?
