The first single to be taken from Rihanna's upcoming album premiered in New York at 11.23am, a time which references the release date of the upcoming album, November 23rd, or 11/23. In the UK, it was premiered simultaneously at 4.23pm GMT on four UK radio stations, including BBC Radio 1.

The song, entitled 'Russian Roulette' was written and produced by Ne-Yo, though its dark, metaphorical subject matter has aroused speculation that it might really be about the singer's abusive relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, but then, people would have said that no matter what the song was about.

The album, entitled 'Rated R', features the writing and production skills of Justin Timberlake as well as UK dance duo Chase & Status, Tricky, Stargate and The Dream. Ne-Yo has described the album as having an 'edgier' sound than its forerunner, 2007's 'Good Girl Gone Bad'.
