To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Universal Music are re-issuing R.E.M.'s second album "Reckoning", as a remastered deluxe edition. The release will include a bonus disc featuring a previously unreleased concert from 1984, recorded at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom during the band's "Little America" tour.
According to the press release, "Inclusion of the live concert is particularly appropriate for the Reckoning - Deluxe Edition. Whereas Murmur had been complex and painstakingly deliberate, the band's Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe, along with producers Mitch Easter and Don Dixon, saw Reckoning as a "chance to turn up the volume, tear up the rule book, and capture instead R.E.M.'s on-stage mojo."
The live concert DVD features eight songs from "Reckoning" itself, as well as tracks from their 1983 debut "Murmer," and two new songs that had yet to be recorded for later albums.
"Reckoning - Deluxe Edition" is due for release on June 23rd. "Reckoning" will also be reissued on vinyl (audiophile quality 180 gram vinyl to be exact) at the same time as a vinyl reissue of "Murmur". Both will come complete with all their original packaging.
