Regina Spektor is to write the music for a Broadway musical based on the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty.

'Beauty' will be produced by Elephant Eye Theatrical, the company behind the new Addams Family musical, and according to playbill.com, the production "uses the 1812 Grimm fairy tale 'Sleeping Beauty' as a jumping-off point for a contemporary and hauntingly provocative story of beauty lost and beauty found."

The show is based on a one act play by playwright and director Tina Landau, who has gone one to helm 'Beauty' with the help of lyricist Michael Korie and of course Spektor.
'Beauty' is due to open on Broadway for the 2011-2012 season.

In the meantime, here's the video for Spektor's 'Us', from her latest album, which recently featured on the soundtrack to (500) Days of Summer. Thanks to Muzu.tv.
