Hard Working Class Heroes 2011 kicked off in style last night as the first lot of the 100 bands who are to play over the course of three nights took to the stage across six venues in the centre of Dublin. Perhaps it's indicative of the movement that's taking place in Irish music at the moment, but where a Hard Working Class Heroes festival of years gone by might have been almost exclusively guitar-oriented music, nowadays electronic music has firmly taken root and become part of the fabric of Irish independent music. The evidence of this was clear to see throughout Thursday's Hard Working Class Heroes.
