Queens of the Stone Age created quite a stir on Facebook yesterday evening with a one word status update - "Recording". That briefest of updates was enough to garner thousands of 'Likes' and comments within minutes.

The last we heard from camp QOTSA was late last year when the band updated Facebook with: "deep into makin' new album" and "Locked away in the desert. & shit year. it. sounds. f*ckin. killer."

The eventual new album will be the follow-up to 2007's Era Vulgaris, though it's not like Queens frontman Josh Homme has been busy during that time. Homme has recorded and toured with supergroup Them Crooked Vultures and produced the Arctic Monkeys Humbug album.

No details have been revealed as to when the sixth QOTSA album might be available for release but our gut tells us it will be early next year.
