Queens of the Stone Age release their new album 'In Times New Roman...' this Friday.

It's been a difficult few years for frontman Josh Homme, following the end of his marriage with Brody Dalle and an ugly, public custody battle regarding their three children - not to mention the deaths of two of his friends, Mark Lanegan and Taylor Hawkins.

Now, Homme has revealed that he also had to contend with a cancer diagnosis last year on top of everything else.

In a new interview with Revolver, he said that he had had successful surgery for the cancer, but did not go into details - and the interviewer noted how "he gets the occasional twinge of pain."

"I never say it can’t get any worse. I never say that, and I wouldn’t advise it. But I do say it can get better," the singer and guitariat said. "Cancer is just the cherry on top of an interesting time period, you know? I’m extremely thankful that I’ll get through this, and I’ll look back at this as something that’s fucked up—but will have made me better. I’m cool with that. There’s a lot of stuff I want to do. And there’s a lot of people I want to do that with."

In happier news, Queens of the Stone Age are bringing their The End is Nero tour over this side of the pond, and will finish with a date at Dublin's 3Arena on November 22nd.

Support comes from The Chats and deep tan, and tickets are on sale this Friday, June 16th at 10am from usual outlets.
