Tommy Ramone, the sole surviving original member of punk pioneers The Ramones, has passed from cancer at the age of 67. Originally the first drummer before being replaced by Marky Ramone, Tommy would later produce a number of albums for the band as well as managing the band.

Born Ederlyi Tamas and born to Hungarian parents, Tommy Ramone co-produced and played drums on The Ramones' first three albums, Ramones, Leave Home and Rocket To Russia. He also served as assistant engineer on Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys album and produced The Replacements' Tim album.

As well as producing and playing drums, Tommy Ramone also wrote several of their greatest hits, namely I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend and wrote a significant amount of Blitzkrieg Bop.
