2002 - The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, places first in the UK and US album charts with The Rising.

2000 - Craig David hits number one in the UK in the song where he seemingly just reads from his diary, 7 Days. At 19 David became the youngest male artist to get two number ones since Donny Osmond in 1973.

1984 - Prince's Purple Rain came out on top of the US album charts. It would stay there for the next 24 weeks, selling 10 million copies in the process.

1975 - Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant was badly injured in a car accident on the Greek island of Rhodes. He damaged his ankle and elbow and was not fully healed for two years. The accident forced the cancellation of an upcoming US tour.

1967 - A young Monkees fan stowed away on the band's flight from Minneapolis to St Louis and the girl's father's attempted to charge the band with transporting a minor across state lines.
