August 2nd - On This Day:
2000 - KC and the Sunshine Band's Jerome Smith was killed in a bulldozer accident. How unbelievably rock 'n' roll! The band are famous for their number one singles Get Down Tonight and Give It Up.
1998 - Beastie Boys landed their third US number one album Hello Nasty. It would stay rooted to the top spot for a respectable three weeks.
1986 - Chris DeBurgh was at number one in the UK with The Lady In Red, and we still haven't quite forgiven him for it.
1977 - Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols was fined £125 by London magistrate after being found guilty of carrying a knife. He would die two years later. Slippery slope, kids.
1962 - A shy Minnesotan legally changed his name from Robert Allen Zimmerman to Robert Dylan and, soon, things were about to be shaken up.
