As Phantom 105.2 closes its doors at midnight tonight, we felt the best way to honour the station was to put together a little playlist of songs we've heard and Shazam'd frantically down through the years. The station, which is due to be rebranded as TXFM and "brought in line with TodayFM", has championed alternative and non-mainstream music for many years and has been a mainstay of the Dublin music scene. Many working Irish bands can remember the first they heard their own songs being played on the station, almost everyone's heard a great song on it.

So, as they would probably have said themselves, it's more about the music and than anything else.

LITTLE DRAGON - 'After The Rain'

From Little Dragon's self-titled album. We're pretty certain we heard this on Sunday Morning Come Down with Pearl.

PARLIAMENT - 'Flash Light'

Our own Brian Lloyd was invited on to the Richie & Richie's show a few months back and he selected this song. FLASH LIGHT. NEON LIGHT.

LE GALAXIE - 'Lucy Is Here'

As mentioned, Phantom 105.2 supported and promoted Irish acts better than any station we can think of. Le Galaxie are one such act and they've truly gone from strength to strength.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT - 'Everyday People'

Our film critic Gavin Burke's show Cinerama was one of the few film-focused radio programmes running on Irish radio. We also know he was partial to 90's Daisy Age hip-hop.

SLAYER - 'Raining Blood'

Metal Notes with Ray McGowan was our favourite show. Where else on Irish radio could you expect to hear Slayer? And the show's intro was Ennio Morricone. Amazing.

KATE BUSH - 'Cloudbusting'

The Kiosk with Nadine O'Regan, which later became The Breakfast Club, was one of the foremost arts & culture show's on Irish radio. Every Saturday, Nadine would champion the best in literature, film, music and anything else that was worth talking about.

DEPECHE MODE - 'Personal Jesus'

Spiral Stairs was the show for goths. Into darkwave? 80's synth? Big fan of eyeliner? Spiral Stairs was for you.
