Pet Shop Boys are to received the 'Outstanding Contribution to Music' at next year's Brit Awards.
The synthpop duo will also perform at the ceremony, which will be held at London's Earls Court Arena on February 18th.
Neil Tennant recently worked with Girls Aloud on their new album 'Out of Control', co-penning the track 'The Loving Kind'.
Brits chairman Ged Doherty said: "Neil and Chris have produced a fantastic body of work with songs that truly were the soundtrack to a whole generation's lives."
The duo are currently recording their tenth studio album, which is due for release next March.
