Iconic film composer Hans Zimmer has announced his first-ever Irish date in Dublin next May.

The Oscar-winning German composer, who has scores from 'The Lion King' to 'Gladiator' to 'Inception' and 'Interstellar' on his CV - to name but a few - will play the 3Arena on May 26th.

Zimmer undertook his first live shows in London last year, and they proved so successful that he is embarking on a full tour.

He said: “To perform live in Ireland is something I always wanted to do, and I am thrilled that the time has finally come. I am very excited to get some of my very talented friends together and give my Irish fans an experience unlike any concert they have ever been to before."

He'll be accompanied by his band, an orchestra and a choir, who will play a selection from the 120+ films that he has scored over the course of his long and successful career. The show is promised to be a 'visual spectacle', too - with lighting by the renowned lighting designer Marc Brickman.

Tickets are from €65 including booking fee, and on sale from usual outlets this Monday, December 7th at 9am.
