No matter how many times either Morrissey, Johnny Marr, or both deny it, the rumours of a Smiths reunion persist.
For not the first time this year, Marr has issued a statement saying that the noise of reunion is poppycock, and he's currently concentrating on playing and recording with The Cribs.
He issued a statement to NME.com that said: "The stories circulating about a Smiths reunion are, as usual, untrue. I'm currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer and we're playing shows in February, so going back in time isn't in my plans."
In other reunion rumours news, ex-Stones Roses/current Primal Scream bassist Mani has claimed that his former band should reform in 2009, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album - and that every member is game for the task, except frontman Ian Brown.
"Me, John and Reni are up for doing it and Ian just needs some working on," he said. "It's something I would love to do before we are all fat and bald. Start the campaign."
