The first trailer for the forthcoming Amy Winehouse biopic 'Back to Black' landed last month to mixed reviews.

However, an unexpected development has been revealed in recent days - and that is that the film has been scored by none other than Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

The Bad Seed duo, of course, are no strangers to scoring films as they have worked on multiple film projects together in the past, including 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford', 'The Road', 'West of Memphis' and most recently, Marilyn Monroe film 'Blonde'.

A photo of them in the studio with director Sam Taylor-Johnson was shared on social media, while Taylor-Johnson said in a statement: "Nick and Warren were the only musicians in my mind to score Back To Black. Over the years I’ve listened to everything they’ve composed and longed to realize the dream of working together.  Their sensibility as well as understanding of this story has led to a profoundly deep and moving film score."

'Back to Black', which stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse, will hit cinemas in May and will also feature some of Winehouse's own songs.
