The shortlist for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2016 was announced in January, but last night the shortlist for the Irish Song of the Year was made public.
Like the Album award, the winner of the Song of the Year will be announced at Vicar Street on March 9th, but the public will decide on the winner, rather than a panel of judges.
The shortlist is as follows:
The Coronas – What a Love (Island)
Hare Squead – If I Ask (Sony)
Heroes in Hiding – Hospital (Self Released)
Niall Horan – This Town (Capitol)
James Vincent McMorrow – Rising Water (Faction)
Picture This – Take My Hand (Warner Music)
Raglans – Who Knows (Self Released)
Saint Sister – Tin Man (Communion)
Soulé – Love No More (Diffusion Labs)
Walking on Cars – Ship Goes Down (Virgin/EMI)
