Last night saw the Democratic National Convention wind up, bringing three nights of speeches and performances in Philadelphia to a close.
Everyone from Paul Simon to Demi Lovato to Alicia Keys pledged their support for Hillary Clinton and performed over the three nights, but with the presidential candidate making her long-awaited speech last night, it needed a big song and a big performer to introduce her and get the crowd riled up.
That voice came in the form of Katy Perry, who performed her mega-hit 'Roar' and new song 'Rise', telling the crowd that even though her own parents are 'pastors and staunch Republicans' and she didn't finish high school, she has an open mind. "I’m asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice, because on November 8, you’ll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist," she said. "You’ll have as much say as any billionaire. Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin’s vote, if you’d like.”
