The Vaccines were one of the new bands to make a big impression in 2011. Their debut album What Did You Expect from the Vaccines peaked at #4 in the UK charts and they followed this with a series of successful festival appearances across Europe, including a performance at Oxegen.

Fans of the band won't have to wait long for new material with the news that the band are heading back to the studio in March to record their second album with former Ryan Adams/Kings of Leon producer Ethan Johns at the wheel.

Frontman Justin Young told NME why they decided to work with Johns: "The reason we wanted to work with Ethan is not because he's a hit manufacturer, but he's a real songs man. If you listen to the records he's made, there's a real warmth there, all his albums are simple, but really well crafted and it feels like they really breathe. Our first record is quite linear, so it'd be nice to have something that breathes a bit more and with a bit more warmth and maturity, but that still sounds like us."
