After announcing last week that they are set to release new single 'The Mermaid' on February 4th, Okkervil River have now revealed that the follow up to 2008's 'The Stand Ins' will be released in May.

The Texas band were guests on last night's (Jan 10th) 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' where the host revealed for the first time that the band's new album will be called 'I Am Very Far' and will be released in the US on May 10th, suggesting we can expect it here in Ireland on Friday May 6th.

Will Sheff and the rest of the band proceeded to play a track from the album, entitled 'Wake And Be Fine', which they performed with the help of The New Pornographers AC Newman and resident band The Roots. After 'The Stand Ins' provided little but a few below par outtakes from their brilliant 2007 album 'The Stage Names', we're happy to report first impressions are good and we're now officially excited.
