Kings of Leon bass player Jared Followill has suggested that a new album from the Oklahoman band can be expected very soon. Speaking to BBC 6Music, Followill said: "We are in the writing process right now and it's coming along pretty quickly. We'll definitely get into the studio but, you know, we have no plans of finishing it this year but definitely next year, so I think people should expect something from us sooner rather than later."

The band's frontman Caleb Followill has been, according to Jared, writing a lot of new material - news which will no doubt reassure legions of KOL fans who were concerned about the direction the band could have been going after a series of below par performances on stage from the frontman which prompted rumours of drug abuse and rehab.

In further Kings of Leon news, Caleb Followill and Nick Brown of Mona released Smoke & Jackal, a new side project EP, on October 15th.
