Dappy, of N-Dubz fame, today broke down in tears and shouted "yes!" when he avoided a jail term after being convicted of assault and affray. The rapper was given a six-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, at Guildford Crown Court in London. He was also ordered to complete 150 hours of community service and pay £4,500 in compensation and £2,000 in costs.

Dappy was facing a possible jail sentence of three years after being convicted after a fight at a petrol station in Guildford in Surrey.

The nine-day trial revealed that the rapper became violent when two teenaged women refused to get into his car to join him at a party in his recording studio. This sparked a brawl, during which three men were injured.

Dappy maintained that he was "disrespected" by the 19 year old women.

The incident took place on February 27th 2012 after Dappy was celebrating the release of 'Rockstar', a collaboration with Queen's Brian May. The confrontation took place at 3.30am at a petrol station after Dappy was going to a party in a local recording studio, having spent the night in a VIP area of a local nightclub.

The fight began after Dappy spat towards the women and a nearby man, David Jenkins, stepped in to protect them.
