The MTV European Music Awards are coming to Ireland in 2011. The award ceremony will be held at Belfast's Odyssey Arena in November of this year, and will no doubt attract some high profile celebs for the occasion, especially since Executive Producer Richard Godfrey has promised "the biggest collection of stars in one place outside the USA.".

After last year's event was held in Madrid, Belfast beat off competition from Stockholm, Warsaw, Paris and London to become the host city for 2011. According to MTV "The home of such renowned artists as Snow Patrol and Van Morrison, Belfast has never been a stranger to a red-hot music scene and a vibrant nightlife. We think it’s the perfect backdrop for one of the world’s biggest nights in music and we can’t wait to take over the town!"

Northern Ireland's Minister for Tourism Arlene Foster said in a statement, "Playing host city for the MTV EMAs is a huge coup, not only for Belfast, but for the whole of Northern Ireland. We are thrilled that Belfast will join the elite club of other leading European cities which have hosted these prestigious music awards."

The MTV EMAs take place at the Odyssey Arena on Sunday November 6th. Ticket details have yet to be finalised, but no doubt this will be an immediate sell-out.
