Snow Patrol have been forced to pull out of their planned performance at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards after frontman Gary Lightbody broke his jaw, Hotpress.com reports.

The cause of the injury has not been released, but feel free to speculate. However does one usually break one's jaw? Thankfully, we suspect he'll have healed up nicely before the band return to Lightbody's hometown of Bangor for an outdoor performance in Ward Park on June 5th.

The Meteor Ireland Music Awards 2010 take place at the RDS on February 19th, and even without Snow Patrol the line up is pretty strong. Bell X1, Westlife, Florence and The Machine, The Script, The Coronas, Pixie Lott and Paolo Nutini will all be making appearances.

**Updated**

Details of Lightbody's injury have now been released. The Snow Patrol singer's jaw was actually dislocated rather than broken. It was "brought on by an old injury and will require immediate medical treatment". As for the Music Ireland Meteor Awards, tickets are now sold out.
