The shortlist for Meteor's Most Promising New Artist For 2010 Award has been revealed. The Top 5 have been whittled down from 170 entries received by an expert Music Industry Panel including Hotpress' Niall Stokes, 2FM's Larry Gogan, Dave Fanning and Rick O'Shea, Today FM's Paul McCloone, Eamon Carr from the Evening Herald, Annett Donnely from Sony and Pat Creed from Warner Music.

The five nominees for the award are as follows:

AMASIS – "Never Yours"
Amasis are Les Stapleton, Fergal Toohey, Russell Cooley, Nofe Liberty and brother Felix - Les and Russell are natives of Dublin, Fergal hails from Galway, Nofe and Felix both hail from New York. Their music is an exciting blend of pop and R'n'B that fits in perfectly with contemporary music production.

EVER27 - "Shadows"
Formed in Mullingar in 2009 as a high-energy, full-on mainstream rock band with sparkling songs, Ever27’s dynamic live presence can encompass a variety of unpredictable visual elements, including fireworks and fire dancers, or whatever their fiendishly inventive minds choose to spring on you!

COLM LYNCH – "Baby Don’t Cry"
Colm Lynch has been on a musical mission that has brought him to all four corners of the land and beyond. Dun Laoghaire’s Lynch honed his craft playing in the local pubs, clubs and venues from an early age along with supporting acts as diverse as The Blizzards, Julie Feeney, Kate Walsh, Foy Vance and Mundy.

JODY HAS A HITLIST - "Walk It Off, Son"
Formed in April 2009, the 5 piece Dublin based Pop Punk band have sold out their own headline shows in Dublin, embarked on 2 successful nationwide headline tours all across Ireland; played support to chart superstars Metro Station in The Olympia Theatre and had a quarter of a million MySpace plays on their official page.

SUSIE SOHO - "Spinning Top"
Soho are a four-piece Irish alternative-rock band, whose members have opened for and shared the stage with artists such as Damien Rice, The Frames, Gabriella Cilmi, Mundy, David Jordan, and Damien Dempsey.
