Oh it's on! Lars Ulrich has wasted little time in responding to the recent challenge from Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith, accepting their offer of a drum battle. Recently Smith and Ferrell competed in their own head-to-head on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

In an interview with Spin, Ferrell said: "I mean, we did talk about another drum-off. With a third person that looks eerily similar to Chad and I. A third drummer out there... Lars gets pissed because he gets mistaken for both me and Chad Smith. He can settle that score now, too."

Ulrich responded in the same publication: "I'm sure that with a bit of practice, I could give Chad a run for his money. But Will? That's a whole different story. He rules the 'bad-ass drummer universe'. I mean, you're talking about a guy who's so next level, actually, so beyond next level, that he may just be completely unreachable! That said, I'm definitely up for the challenge... Bring it on!!!"

Ferrell was awarded the victory in his first drum battle against Chad Smith before the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers arrived on stage and blasted out a version of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Don't Fear The Reaper' with, as you might expect, Ferrell rocking the cowbell quite considerably.

We can only imagine what they've got in store for us next time around...
