Alt-J, currently the bookies picks to walk away with the Mercury Prize for best album of 2012, will play a highly anticipated gig in Dublin's Olympia Theatre on May 3rd next.
The Cambridge band have had a terrific year so far, taking many musos by surprise with their outstanding debut album An Awesome Wave which earned itself a surprise place in the UK top 20 upon its release.
The band's frontman Joe Newman had this today of the band's Mercury Prize nomination: "it's pretty amazing actually, I'm pretty stunned. To be in that screenshot of great British albums from 2012... to be involved in that is great. We're just really stoked. We can't wait to go to the party, get pissed and have a great time; enjoy everyone's company and soak it all up."
The Mercury Music Prize ceremony will take place on November 1st. Alt-J will release a deluxe edition of An Awesome Wave on October 19th, while tickets for the Olympia performance will go on sale at 9am on Friday 12th October.
