Gutted. Portland's finest Menomena have just said goodbye to one of their three core members, Mr. Brent Knopf.

Menomena's latest album 'Mines' was entertainment.ie's second favourite record of 2010, and the band never made it to Ireland on their recent European tour to perform it live for us. Justin Harris and Danny Seim will continue their current tour without Knopf, who will be replace by Dat'r and Binary Dolls drummer Paul Alcott for the duration, including their upcoming festival dates at SXSW and Coachella.

The band announced the news via a post on their official website.
"After 10 years of fruitful collaboration, Brent Knopf has decided to part ways with Menomena to focus on Ramona Falls and other creative pursuits. We want to thank Brent for his vast contributions over the years and wish him nothing but happiness in all of his future endeavours. All three of us look forward to seeing you soon!"

Disappointing, but let's try to see the silver lining. Ramona Falls is almost as awesome as Menomena, and we are looking forward to hearing what Knopf does to follow the brilliance of the 2009 debut 'Intuit'. But still, gutted.

In other Menomena news, the band are set to reissue their 2003 debut album 'I Am The Fun Blame Monster' as a deluxe CD/DVD package with extensive bonus material this spring.
