Morrissey, one of the world's most vociferous herbivores, will play to an entirely meat-free Staples Centre in Los Angeles on March 1st if reports coming from Billboard are to be believed.

The venue's McDonald's outlet will be closed and vendors will only be permitted to sell vegetarian snacks at Morrissey's request. As well as this, part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be sent to animal welfare charity PETA.

"I don't look upon it as a victory for me, but a victory for the animals", Moz was quoted as saying in a statement.

While this may seem trivial to most of us, this represents something of a victory for Morrissey - Paul McCartney was refused by the venue when he made the same request. Knowing that the way to Morrissey's heart is through his stomach (sort of), the Coachella festival famously tried to tempt Morrissey and The Smiths out of retirement by promising an entirely veggie festival if The Smiths agreed to headline.

The next point of concern is whether or not the show will actually go ahead, given the fact that Morrissey was forced to cancel a string of dates owing to a recent bleeding ulcer.
