Shane McGowan has reportedly gathered a number of high profile names to record a cover of the Screaming Jay Hawkins' 1956 classic 'I Put A Spell On You' to raise money for Haiti. Among them are Nick Cave, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Johnny Depp and his wife Vanessa Paradis.

According to The Sun, photographer and friend of The Pogues frontman Danny Clifford confirmed the project, "My mate is organising a charity single to help raise loads of money for Haiti and the people who need it most ... There are some very big names involved and one of them is my mate Shane MacGowan, bless him. He is a good sport." Clifford is supposedly set to take photographs of the recording sessions.

In other Haiti fundraising news, Simon Cowell's all star version of R.E.M.'s 'Everybody Hurts' is set for release via download on February 7th, and on CD on February 8th, Lady GaGa succeeded in raising $500,000 with her charity concert in New York on Sunday, and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder has release a cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'My City Of Ruins' to raise money for the earthquake relief effort.
