With only two Grammy awards going to female artists on Sunday night and the Grammys boss riling a number of musicians by suggesting that women should 'step up' if they want to be in contention for awards, it's no surprise that more people are talking about the subsequent controversy rather than the actual ceremony.
Following Pink's angry handwritten message to Neil Portnow that she posted to Twitter yesterday, Lorde has now gone one better and taken out a full-page space in her native New Zealand to share her thoughts on the whole thing - although she doesn't specifically reference the fact that she was the only nominee in her category not offered a solo performance spot.
Instead, she thanked fans for their support and for 'believing in female musicians'.
The letter read:
'I'm writing this from New York City. Angelo [her brother] & I sat in Madison Square Garden last night & saw a lot of crazy and wonderful things.
'I just want to say thankyou, from the bottom of my heart, for loving & embracing Melodrama the way you did. My nomination belongs to you. Thankyou, also, for believing in female musicians. You set a beautiful precedent!
'All my love,
Lorde x'
