If you've been watching the latest season of New Girl, you'll have noticed that Prince turned up for an extended cameo in one of the episodes. The Artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince (no, that's not a typo) released this song last night which featured on that episode. No official music video has been announced but we're guessing everybody's favourite Manic Pixie Dream Girl, Zooey Deschanel, will probably make an appearance.
Initial thoughts? Prince's new stuff has been interesting and his weird blend of electro, funk and disco is totally in right now, what with Pharrel's G I R L album sounding basically like an Earth Wind & Fire record in parts. This track, on the other hand, sounds almost like a 90's dance track - which is cool but doesn't gel with what you'd expect from Prince. We've just had the most amazing idea - Prince does a colloboration with Beyonce. That'd be insane.
The song will be released for download on iTunes on March 18th. Have a listen and see what you think!
