Clutch-Cypress Grove

This has been my good vibes tune since I first heard it. I hear this and it's party time.

Meshuggah-Bleed
Technically unsurpassed as a band but there's something about this track that makes me hug people instead of wanting to hurt them.

Tom Waits-Mr. Siegal
He's such a good story teller that I imagine myself in every song he's written.

Queens of the Stone Age-Lost art of keeping a secret.
This tune made me fall in love with the band and I still can't stop listening it.

Them Crooked Vultures-No one loves me and neither do I.
I couldn't believe the change near the end of the tune, it completely knocked me out and is the reason that I love the band so much.

Admiral Angry-Sex with a stranger
One of the best heavy bands I've ever heard. They have such a unique sound and approach to what makes music heavy.

Baroness-Isak
I love this band and I think this was the first track of their I heard. The guitar harmonies in places are ridiculously good.

Bongripper-Great Barrier Reefer
1 tune, 80 minutes. More riffs in here than rock in a quarry.

Bruce Springsteen-Born to run
Driving on tour any place in the world you can relate to this tune. It's so epic and I can make the Boss' lyrics apply to me no matter where I am.

Pete Seeger - We Shall Overcome
This tune was popularized by Seeger and surely there is not a person alive who can't be moved by this beautiful song.

Casual-Lose in the End
I first heard this in the Plan B skate film Virtual Reality and instantly ordered the album from my local store. Part of the soundtrack to some inspirational skate sessions.

Faith No More-From out of Nowhere
Never was a song title so apt for me. I originally heard this on a music compilation pop record my sister had bought in 1989 and my love of rock music began in earnest.

Helmet-Meantime

I read about Helmet supporting Faith No More on some European shows and bought the Meantime album based on the live review in '92. I was not disappointed and have been a huge fan since.

Lafaro-Easy Meat

I had the pleasure of being in my first live band with frontman Jonny Black. One of the best bands you will ever hear. They are a riff machine and never fail to raise a smile on this bitter old face!

Explosions in the Sky-Your Hand in Mine
One of the tunes that inspired me to start playing live music again. I wanted to make people feel half of the emotion that this tune made me feel on first listen.

Deftones-Minerva
In '95 I first heard Deftones and although I find it really difficult to pick a favourite track, Minerva is really special to me because of where i was in life when it came out.

Pantera - 5 minutes alone
Too many awesome tunes to choose from but this track always gets played by me at some point. What a f*@#in' band!

Pelican - Mammoth
This was the first Pelican tune that i heard and was another reason for me wanting to play live again. So brutally heavy but melodic at the same time.

Stand-Up Guy- Fra Diavolo
This band were an inspiration to me on so many levels that upon hearing of their parting of ways I marked my devotion in skin ink!

21.Mastodon-Mother Puncher

Mastodon have never recorded a song that I don't love so narrowing it down to one isn't easy. It's always a track that makes me scream "yeeeessss!" when i hear it though.

Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet
All of my appreciation of good music started with my parents as a child. I will never forget my Dad listening to this and deciding that I wanted to be a musician like him.

Fleetwood Mac-Black Magic Woman

One of Peter Green's best moments, what a guitar player and what a tune.

The National-Fake Empire
This song is just incredibly well written and performed beautifully. We used to come on stage to it cos it's such an emotionally charged anthem it really got us ready to play.

Michael Jackson-Speed Demon

One of my many loved Jackson tracks but that bass line is so funky!

Neil Young-Old Man

A genuine move you to tears song from the incredible Harvest. Literally makes my eyes water with each listen.

Nirvana-Blew

This is the first Nirvana tune i heard and it's definitely one of my favourite tracks ever.

Primus-DMV
Primus are one of the best bands on the planet, although you could be forgiven for thinking they're not human on first listen of this track!

Slayer-Die By The Sword

Slayer have relentlessly been thrilling and shocking in equal measure since 1981 and as is this is the first track I heard and my entry to thrash metal and all things heavy, I have to say thanks to them! SSSSLLLLAAAAYYYYEEERRRR!
