There's been a definite glut of 'old recordings redone with orchestras' over the last few years, with the likes of Elvis and even our own Joe Dolan getting the treatment, with varying results.

These versions of two classic songs, however, are undeniably great.

A number of Aretha Franklin's songs have been re-recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and it gives the likes of 'Respect' - her iconic tune from 1967 - a new level of oomph. They're taken from the album 'A Brand New Me', which is out today and sees orchestral renderings of old recordings.

This absolutely gorgeous version of 'I Say a Little Prayer' is a must-hear.
